First global clusters of Global Renewable Energy Islands Network (GREIN) launched

Set up by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), GREIN resembles a new platform for pooling knowledge, sharing best practices, and seeking innovative solutions to accelerate the uptake of clean and cost-effective renewable energy technologies on islands in the Pacific, the Caribbean and Indian Ocean, as well as to virtual islands across the world. GREIN’s first activities were the start-up of two global interest clusters, one on renewable energy technology roadmaps for islands (led by Solomone Fifita of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community) and another one on renewable energy for power grids (led by Andrew Daka of the Pacific Power Association).
